Robert Givan is the most promising student of theory of artificial
intelligence I have seen in 30 years.  I have not given anywhere near
so strong a recommendation before.  I intend to try to
keep him here at Stanford.  The recommendation is primarily based
on numerous good ideas on formalization of common sense knowledge
that he originated while working this summer (1986) as a research assistant,
even though they have not yet resulted in publishable papers.
